Our understanding of the emotion love is limited. I do not believe that animals can fall in love with people in the traditional sense of the word. Animals can have an affection for people, but our understanding of that affection is questionable at best.

Depends on the animal. And your definition of love.

Do you mean romantic love? I don't think a normal mentally-healthy animal would fall in love with a human, no. But could it happen? Possibly.

For example, a bird hand-raised by people (usually done in parrots to tame them) will often leave the bird literally thinking it is a person, and not a bird...
When that bird reaches maturity, it might try to court or even mate with their owner. Some might define that as romantic love.
