I read it when I was younger, and I remember being both saddened and enamoured with it. It's slightly paranormal and does, in fact, deal with the song the most people know the chorus to. So...I'm lookig for it, as I would like to read it again!

I'm not looking for a Western, and the book is actually more modern than that. I believe it came out...when I was in elementary school, and was perhaps...two inches thick.

It's called Dreadful Sorry by Kathryn Reiss. That is, if it's about a girl named Molly who has a phobia about water and gradually realizes that she's the reincarnation of a rather unpleasant girl named Clementine Horn who drowned about eighty years before. It's still in print.

The movie called My Darling Clementine is a great old Western with Henry Fonda and Walter Brennan.

Most of the books with that title are about Eleanor Roosevelt.

I read that too, and haven't thought about it for years. I think (not 100% sure) that it was called Lost and Gone Forever. That sticks in my mind because I recalled the title was part of the lyrics of the song. The author's name was Kathryn something. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! The only reason I remember that much is because her name was spelled the same way I spell mine.
