Do you have good communication with a doctor whom you can trust? A relative? A close friend?
Before anything else, you need someone close whom you can tell the full story so that he/she can keep a bit of an eye on you.
You may need to tell the police, the hitting could happen again. Are you in good communication with your daughter's dad? If yes, you might want to tell him --- just because of your daughter. (But if contact with her dad is kinda painfull, than it is not really an option).
Wellfare office? Social worker? Women's shelter?
But -again- first you need to tell your full story to a close and trusted person. Don't do this all by yourself. You deserve some help with this, both morally and practical.
Sending you a hug!

1st. of all, and I don't mean this to sound like a cliche', get out to a shelter or somewhere. These situations always get worse if not ugly. You could end up dead in front of your daughter, and possibly her to! As time progresses onward, whatever stirred him up will keep on multiplying to he loses it completely. Oops, sorry is no excuse! 2ndly, if you think you have a state of depression now, wait till after you've visited the intensive care unit a time or two. You'll find you get almost recovered from one beating and your back in again, if not the morgue. There are shelters for battered women, and most of them have some assistance programs to help you get back on your feet and become more independent. I have an older daughter that is an alcoholic and klives with a useless guy that's put her into intensive care at deaths door 5 to 6 times or more. A suggestion for the depression though. I was severly depressed when I lived in Michigan do to the number of dull sunless days, and the work situation up there. After coming to Florida and getting into the sunshine, I started to clear up. I had lived down here before and didn't have problems like that till I moved back home for a long time. About 15 to 18 years ago I was in a doctors office with my step son and read an article about people that suufer from solar or daylight depression. They suggest either a location change, or some sort of light therapy such as sitting for a few hours in front of several lights, such as flourescent light banks. I chose the move! Works great. Doesn't take long to turn around in the sunshine state!

Find a women's shelter in your community and call or go there. Call the police--they will help you. What he did is illegal.
Take your daughter and get out of there. He will do it again (despite what he might say) and next time, he could harm your daughter.

You have to get out. Go to a shelter, a friend's or relative's house....something. Next time it might be your daughter.
