I love what it represents. It represents work, effort done on behalf of others, which they have appreciated me doing, and thereby shown that appreciation with money, which they obtained by doing work for other people. It represents work I can have other people do for me, in exchange for the money I got by doing work for other people. It represents a faith in the goodness of my fellow men that they will accept these intrinsically worthless tokens, these bits of paper, these tarnished pieces of metal, and do work for me to obtain them, in the expectation that other men and women will accept them in the future for food, gasoline, clothing, things they want to have.
I love the idea of money, because without it, we would all need to have our own cows and churn our own butter, and be unable to store value for the future, leaving us utterly dependent on others to support us in any temporary disability or old age.
Money is the Third Gift of Civilization, right after Agriculture and Permanent Structures.

Beyond the necessities like food, clothing, shelter, it just simply isnt important.
