If you get the decision maker - the person you need to speak to - on the line, then consider yourself lucky. But here are the numbers: out of every 100 calls you make, 90 of them are going to be answered by the secretary. 20 of the secretaries will let you speak to the decision maker, 10 of the decision makers are going to be interested, 5 of them are going to be really interested and maybe 1 is going to buy. These are the typical numbers of a beginning salesperson. You'll probably be making up to 300 calls everyday. Just keep positive and persevere, and you can potentially make a load of money. Good luck!

You need an income... so by all means, pursue the opportunity. In a few weeks or months, perhaps a better position will become available; and at least you'd have built-up some work experience instead of sitting around unemployed.

As long as you have a thick skin and don't take things personally, it's a great job. There are almost always openings and you can work your way up. Just keep in mind that there is no way for them to come through those little holes in the telephone mouthpiece and get you!
