For the folks that manufacture in this country, it is getting worse. All of our jobs are going to other countries. Thanks a lot Bill! NAFTA sucks! It has hit my jewelry manufacturing business, and now the Dental Laboratory owners are starting to feel it as well. The furniture industry, the auto industry, the steel industry, the electronics industry...all have been devastated by our own government allowing moves overseas. It all started under Bill Clinton. Remember Ross Perot? That great big sucking sound? Ross was right! The US government still allows China, and Russia to locate or businesses in their hostile lands. Makes me sick! Thanks again Bill, you started it all! And you George, you allow it to continue.

Increasing physically decreasing spiritually.
We live longer however there is no longer any art. It is all commercial pornography. Every thing is about selling something or possessing something we do not need. No appreciation for the things we do need.
I'm not saying we go back to the old time religion. I am saying that people in America are starving and they don't even know it. Because of this insatiable desire to possess things that are worthless spiritually we are destroying our planet. This in turn will cause us to lose the things we do Need. Air food and water.
SO we are on a steady decline.

In some areas better in some areas worse and it really depends on how you measure it.

The amount of wealth in the country has gone up. Alot of wealth to alot of people has been via home ownership and the stock market. Home ownership is about as high as its ever been.

While GDP shrunk a bit during the recession, it is growing again. Real wage growth has been stagnant-slow growth for a few years.

But it is true that in some areas its worse. Off-shoring and outtasking in manufacturing has been going on for decades now. Offshoring jobs in professional/white collar jobs has been in vogue for at least 5-10 years now and increasing. We are becoming more and more service sector and intellectual capital type of economy.

All in all though, I think we have a pretty decent quality of life in the US given a myriad of factors.

For my family, it may decrease a great deal.. My husband works in the oil field and his company was bought out recently by a bigger company.. Sounds like a good thing? No. They "lay off" the ppl who make good money and hire mexicans who will work for 8 bucks an hour... So I have to say that we are stocking up on ramen noodles while some illegal is about to start eating steaks..
