I posted a question earlier and loved the responses that I recieved, to those that replied, thank you very much, and Im just reposting for those just joining us. - My girlfriend and I live in Michigan and next week we are going to pick up our best friend from Florida. She has just recently decided to finally get out of her horribly abusive *emotionally* relationship with her girlfriend of a year and a half... and wants to start a new life here. We have opened our home to her, and we care about her very much. I just have a little bit of worry about her getting lonely or something like that... She says she is very excited to come here and to start over. She means the world to us and we hold her very close to our heart. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make her feel more at home or more comfortable here??

Right now what she needs is a boost to her self esteem. People in abusive relationships sometimes feel as though they deserved to be treated that way. Give her love and encouragement. Give her a space to call her own. Take her on outings to familiarize her with the town. This will be helpful and give her something to do at the same time. You are a good friend.

Give her breathing space and time to chill on her own . she needs time alone with her thoughts and from moving . don't over whelm her with too much at once.
Don't ask her many questions about her abusive relationship ..let her tell you ..
Ask her opinion in things , let her feel that she is included in everything. let her help when help is needed ..
Give her space and reason to be happy about her move .
