Hi:
First thing to do is : Don't not let math intimited you.
Okay with that out of the way.
1) Read the problem all the way through
2) write out what is known about the problem
3) Find out what the problem is asking you to slove
4) Do you know the formula or equation for sloving it
5) If you do: Then Write It Down
6) Do you need to rearrange the formula or equation to get what the question is ask you to slove?
{ Very important thing here while doing # 7or # 8 : Watch the Signs Both "+" and "-" here they will mess you up everytime; if your not careful. okay with that out of the way.}
7) If yes: then do a step by step process in rearrange the formula or equation and label what operation you are doing for that step for every step along the way
8) Plug in the Numbers then do a step by step process in sloving the formula or Equation and label what operation doing for that step for every step along the way
9) When you reach the final answer write the Label "Proof:"
on the bottom of the page and take your orignal formula or equation and plug in the answer and then do a step by step process in the formula or Equation and label what operation doing for that step and see if it answers match or equal each other, If not go back and see were you went wrong and correct it and redo the problem from that point until you reached #8 then do # 9. If it does write down the answer and be sure to put the units on; it if it has any. Okay
For example:
A man wanted to bulid a water tower that is a shape of a cube and the Volume of water he wanted is 1,000,000 cubic ft what is the size of the cube side does he need, to do this?
Okay
What is known?
1,000,000 cubic feet, It's a cube
know the formula for the Volume of a Cube?
Yes! What is it? { Write It Down!}
V= S^3
What is the question ask you to slove?
Answer :The Size of the cube's size
Do we need to rearrange the Formula to get what being asked?
yes
than
Cube root( S^3)= Cube root( V) rationalizion Radials here
Cube root(v) = S The inverse of cubes
can we plug in the numbers? yes
Cube root (1,000,000 ft ) = S - subtution
S = 100 ft
Proof:
S^3= V
(100)^3 = 1,000,000 Subtution
100*100*100= 1,000,000 Multiplication of terms or something
10000*10 = 1,000,000 Multiplication of terms
1,000,000= 1,000,000 Answer equals
So 100 ft is the answer
