I have a head and foot board, nothing to put mattress on.
Would also like to be able to find out more about when bed was made. Head board is dark wood, with large spindals on the sides,
rounded shapes. the foot board is spindaled

You have to have side rails to put the slats in. A carpenter could help there. as far as research I dont know google I guess. If you have rails put the bed together mesure the distance or length of the slats you can use about 4-5 1x4 pine. they can cut them for you at the harware store.
