cookies usually get onto the pc with u go on websites
spyware are usually on software or files u download onto your pc
yes - can get through cable or dsl
but no when pc is off

unless someone can hack/access your pc remotely & turn the system on, then they could plant some nasties on it....

No, and, not even when it is on!
1. I run a hardware firewall, having changedthe admin account and password from ADMIN!
2. All my computers are Macs or Linux (on PCs). Linux runs the PCs upto 50X faster than XP Pro ever did and makes them competitive in speed with Macs.
3. Recommend you get http://pclinuxos.com and run it, for free!

No they won't. Spyware and cookies must be able to reach a hard drive in order to get through. Therefore the computer must be on.

They can not because they need to get into the processor not just into the modem. When you computer is off there is no processor available.

It IS possible but unlikely. As long as you have a Firewall set to a high security setting, then you don't even need to worry about it. good luck
