There are 5 people in our family. All but me are males. Three are kids who LOVE to be outdoors.
I do laundry on Tuesdays & Fridays. If necessary, I do it on Sundays also.
I wash, dry & fold. I do NOT put them all away. My three boys put their own clothes away.

Oooh...I grew up doing laundry for a family of 7. I get the picture! Get everybody in the family their own laundry basket. Separate the whites, reds, darks, and rest of the colors into four separate baskets or--even better--get one of those laundry hampers that has separate compartments. Everyone in your household over the age of seven is probably able to put their dirty laundry in the right color compartment. If you have a lot of laundry, don't make it all your own job!! Have the youngest kids do what they're able to--usually, like I said, putting their dirty clothes in the right compartment, and helping with sorting/putting laundry away. Give each household member their own special job, and be sure to make it clear what it is (I'd recommend putting a list near the washer/dryer). For instance, let's say it's time to do a whites wash. All of the white colors are right there, next to the washing machine. Since putting the clothes in the washer is the hardest step, I'd make this your "job." So you start the load. When the load is done, have your spouse or an older child (one over age 12 should be just fine with this job) move the clothes to the dryer. When the dryer timer goes off, dump all of the clean clothes into a big laundry basket. Have the youngest kid go on a "sock treasure hunt," finding all of the clean socks in the basket. Even a very young kid can do this. A slightly older kid can match the socks and put them into each person's own basket (hint: label the plastic laundry baskets with the owner's name to reduce confusion). Another kid or your spouse can sort the rest of the clothing. The older kids will be able to fold and put away their own clothing. It does take some coordination to fold clothes, though, so any kids under 10 will probably have trouble with this and need some help.
The key: divide and conquer! Don't expect yourself to do everything! And if not everything gets folded, relax.
As far as when to do laundry: do all of the sheets each weekend. This makes it easy to stay on schedule. Just have everyone strip their beds together (stripping a bed all by yourself is hard work, even for an adult!) and get it all done in a few loads. You might make a schedule for which days other loads are done as well--denim loads, reds, socks/underwear, etc. This will keep everything running more smoothly. It will also help everyone remember when they need to have their dirty laundry in the laundry area if they want their clothes washed! I don't know how many loads you will need to do a day; what I generally do is start a load before I go to bed, put it in the dryer in the morning, and finish it after school/work. Pick a timetable that feels most natural to you, and use it. And don't sweat the small stuff. As long as it's clean, that's what's important!

Start off by taking them to the laundry mat, wash, dry, fold right away.
Second, go home and put away, older kids can put theirs away.
Third, just do a load or two a day or pick one/two days to do the laundry every week and try your hardest to stick with it.
If you get behind again then go back to the laundry mat.
hope one of the answers helps ya!

We have a large family and have to do two loads a day to keep up. During the week we put clothes the washer before we leave in the morning and put them in the dryer as soon as we get in in the evening. My husband and I will fold after the children are in bed. Wtih sheets, towels and the like we put those in the wash at night when the demand for hot water is low and put them in the dryer in the morning before we leave since we don't worry about wrinkles. this routine works well for us and keeps things from piling up. The one drawback is sometimes at night we are too tired to fold so we do sometimes get a backlog of folding.

I had this comparable form of difficulty at one time as quickly as I did no longer have a house washing gadget & dryer & it replaced into very puzzling & far to a laundry. We had a number of luggage crammed with laundry of all kinds because of the fact we basically saved up with the minimum. after i ultimately have been given a washing gadget/dryer set returned I only saved doing lots each and every time i ought to until eventually all completed. I put in lots in the previous mattress, putting into the dryer interior the morning & the different time i ought to. It somewhat does not take long to throw in a load now & then.

Walk out of the bathroom and throw the clothes in the basket. Walk past the basket on the way to the kitchen and throw clothes in machine. Have brekky, do chores, remove wet stuff, put in next load, hang clothes out....Throw the dry clothes in the basket and fold them ALL right away. Put them where they go and put the stuff that needs ironing on the board. Later iron in front of your favorite tv show. You can fold in front of tv too if you like.

everyone in this house does their own laundry. As soon as my boys could reach to the bottom of the washing machine, they were doing their own laundry :0) I keep my wardrobe to a minimum, cuz I don't like doing laundry. I can wash all my clothes in one load,
