Historically, conservatives act as a check on liberalism gone rampant. Unfortunately, the pseudo-conservatives of the Bush administration have gone in such an aberrant and destructive direction that the their net effect is far worse than any liberalism-gone-rampant. And real conservatives have thus far been too reluctant to obstruct/keep honest Bushite radicalism--though it looks like that's beginning to change.

They have an amazing ability to deny the truth.
This could come in handy at times.
Seriously though, I get along with many conservatives they all have their good points.

Yeah...The American Conservative endorsed a Democratic win on Tuesday!!!
Woohoo!!!
Excerpt: {It should surprise few readers that we think a vote that is seen—in America and the world at large—as a decisive “No” vote on the Bush presidency is the best outcome....On Nov. 7, the world will be watching as we go to the polls, seeking to ascertain whether the American people have the wisdom to try to correct a disastrous course. Posterity will note too if their collective decision is one that captured the attention of historians—that of a people voting, again and again, to endorse a leader taking a country in a catastrophic direction.}

I'm glad someone said fiscal policy, show's they were at least trying. I'll say something good about libs to show I can be fair too. They, under clinton, got 2 years of balanced budgets with a surplus. There, I'm playing nice

i'm a liberal, the one thing i can say for conservatives is that they seem to keep up tradition, although looking at some of the posts, i'm not sure they deserve anything good.

Well, I'd say that a TRUE conservative actually believes in smaller government and in cutting waste.
With today's deficit & increased government "Big Brotherness," I'd say that it is clear that TRUE conservatives are not in charge.
