Yes actually, I did see the "the's" were missing.
I kind of stumbled over the saying because of it.
However, my opinion may not count, I was just looking at other riddles on this site yesterday, so think my radar was up.

I didnt notice the two "the's" until the second silent reading. I thought it was a typo. I read it aloud twice, knowing I said "the" twice.
