i live right by the recent esperanza fire and i knew the firefighters of engine 57 (not verey well but i knew them) but Mark was my baseball coach 4 a couple of weeks and 2 of his sons played on the same team as my lil sister and during th games when they wernt batting i would play around with them. and they were all people i would see a couple times a week becouse its a small town. and i know i should be sad butwut would be the propper amount of sadness and if im not sad am i a bad person?

sadness is a feeling.........just go with the flow....if ur sad...then feel that sadness....u will know when to stop. My son died Jan 29 2005 and i still feel sad...........i am just not miserable sad.....u know crying all the time like when he first died.

I would be sad because you did know them, but i would also understand if your not crying your eyes out either because you knew them casually they weren't exactly your best friends or a family member, so it is okay to show a little sympathy but it doesn't make you a bad person if you don't either.

it's ok not to be mourning on the outside
it really depends if you know the person well or not
im sure that anyone who died would feel better if the people they knew werent getting on with their lives just because they're dead
if it were up to me, i'd hope that they wouldnt miss me too much and they would continue doing what makes them happy and live life to the fullest

take time to reflect as to what the situation means to you

no there are much worse things to feel bad about than emotions
