Only buy things if you think that they are worth it. Economies need people to spend, since that provides incomes for the shopkeeper and allows him/her to employ people etc. However, saving is also important since it means that banks have the money to lend to people to invest to make the economy stronger in the future.

The only time that spending is bad is if you spend more on something than you think it is worth to you. If you pay $5 for a hamburger but are vegetarian, then this is bad. You have taken a hamburger from someone who enjoys eating meat and you have wasted $5 that you could have spent on something else. Otherwise, spend or save, both help the economy.
