What happens if no one votes?

I'm not being smart ***. I am just curious. What is the law regarding this matter? Do the current people in office automatically get another term? Does anyone know?

The incumbant is automatically reelected.

If nobody votes it would be the biggest vote of no confidence ever for an adminstration. The administration would long before have been tarred and feathered and run across some border in the night on rails.

More likely, only those with a fiendish agenda would vote and see it all come to pass. Sort of like the last few elections.

If no one votes than no one wins, in some States/Municipalities the incumbent would remain in office, because their term ends when their successor is qualified. On the Federal level it would differ from office to office. Presidental electors could be appointed by the state legislatures and Senators by the governors, but the a House seat would remain vacant.

But this is reallya moot point because one of the requirements to being on the ballot for an office is to be eligible to vote for that office and who wouldn't vote for themselves?

Wow, that's a great question. I doubt that the people get the second term with no earning to it. I believe that they re-post the votes and encourage folk to vote.

I never heard of this happening, okay out of all the eligible voters in America at BEST you can expect to talk maybe 75% into not voting! That's with money & other prizes!

the politicians become more corrupt because they know people will do nothing about it. they start giving themselves more priviliges while robbing the people of theirs. the government starts doing whatever it wants, and eventually you'll get a fascist state.
