The American Gov. helped get Saddam in power there so they could have control over Oil...Then due to the great wealth amassed by Iraq due to oil revenue, SADDAM got carried away with his riches..His people went without and he spoiled himself and his followers...Those that tried for Justice were killed off.Whole communities were wiped out...And it would be still going on today had Saddam not believed he could take on the USA...Saddam turned on the Nation that bought his country from the Dark Ages into one of the richest countries on Earth..Now we have to Silence (Kill) him before he lets the rest of the worl know what he had to do for AMERICA when he was a dictator.

An Iraqi court on Sunday sentenced Saddam Hussein to the gallows for crimes against humanity, closing a quarter-century-old chapter of violent suppression in this land of long memories, deep grudges and sectarian slaughter.
The former Iraqi dictator and six subordinates were convicted and sentenced for the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town after an attempt on his life there.
The nine-month trial had inflamed the nation, and three defense lawyers and a witness were murdered in the course of its 39 sessions.
President Bush called the verdict "a milestone in the Iraqi people's efforts to replace the rule of a tyrant with the rule of law."
This ia a major achievement for Iraq's young democracy and its constitutional government. But symbolic of the split between the United States and many of its traditional allies over the Iraq war, many European nations voiced opposition to the death sentences in the case, including France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden. A leading Italian opposition figure called on the continent to press for Saddam's sentence to be commuted to life imprisonment.
The death sentences automatically go to a nine-judge appeals panel, which has unlimited time to review the case. If the verdicts and sentences are upheld, the executions must be carried out within 30 days.

He was president and leader of the Ba'ath party in iraq. He provided the sunni muslims (a minority) with preferential treatment. Opressing the Shi'a muslims (the majority) in the process. This is why he has been sentenced to death for crimes against the Shi'a Muslims. Basically if you pee'd him off, he'd kill you!
