There have been and are several black drivers in the NASCAR circuits. The most notable black driver in NASCAR was Wendell Scott. Other drivers include Willy T.Ribbs, Bill Lester, and Chris Bristol.

In the 50's there was Charlie Scott,Run only 1 or 2 races '
Then in the 60's and 70's Wendell Scott was an active driver,he even won a race in the 60's.
In the 80's Willey T Ribbs ran several races.
And today Bill Lester drives in the Carftsman truck series.

"Honey Nut Cheerios, a long-time NASCAR auto racing sponsor, unveiled a special-edition package honoring Atlanta hometown hero, Bill Lester, the first driver from the NASCAR Truck Series and the first African-American driver to appear on a cereal package. Lester, who was born in Washington, D.C. and currently lives in Atlanta, drives the Bobby Hamilton-owned #8 Dodge Dealers Dodge Ram.
Lester ran his first full season in NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series last year finishing 17th in the final points standings. Through the first 10 races of this season, Lester is 13th in the standings and well within range of the top 10. Lester is also pioneering the way to make NASCAR a truly all-American sport since he is the only African-American driver in any of NASCAR’s premier national touring series. He posted a 10th place finish at the O’Reilly 250 at the Kansas Speedway on July 5, making him the first African-American driver to place in the top 10 in a national NASCAR tour race since 1971. "

The only one I really knew was Bill Lester. He races in the truck series full-time for Bill Davis Racing. He had also tried to qualify 2 races in the nextel cup series on time but only made one race. He droved the 23 Waste Management Dodge Charger for Bill Davis. I hope he can race more cup races so he can get better experience driving those cars.
