no, they're caused by the pregnancy itself

The cause of stretch marks during pregnancy include the effect of hormones on your skins elasticity, as well as the skin's ability to stretch to accomodate a larger uterus and weight.

Sometimes, there is simply too much stretch demanded of the skin to accomodate the new size, things are happening faster than the skin can accomodate it.

Scratching them will make them appear worse, but will not cause more stretch marks. The itch is cuased by the stretch effect on the nerve ending in the skin.

Use mosturizer, olive oil, or cocoa butter to keep the skin moist and reduce the added effects of dry skin, which can deepen the scar.

Most women will get some stretch marks during pregnancy, even celebrities get them, after the pregnancy, as the uterus returns to it's pre-pregnant size and excess adipose (fat) tissue is lost, stretch mark scars will fade and become pale (it may take up to a year).

Think of them as souveniers from a trip worth taking!

Best wishes,

Ha-ha. No, they are not caused from scratching! Not everyone gets stretch Marks during pregnancy, it depends on your genes. And stretch Marks are caused by rapid weight loss or gain (hint, pregnancy maybe one of them). It depends on the person honestly.

Even skinny people can wake up one morning and feed stretch marks, pregnancy isn't the only thing that causes them.

No, scratching will not cause stretch marks. Your skin may itch because it is stretching. Rubbing lotion on may help. Stretch marks are unique in everyone. Some get them, some don't. Even if you do get them they will usually fade gradually over time after the baby is born.

In some ways yes and no. Yes because it makes your stretch marks worst and if you do that rub some cocoa lotion. No because some people might be destined to have stretch marks when they get pregnant.

Yep shes right. You get em if u are meant to have them and no cream or lotion will stop it. And they AREE itchy so lotion will help it not be so itchy! People who use the lotion and claimed it work was just because they werent gonna have em anyway or few. The size u are doesnt matter either U can be chubby and still get them worse than a smaller woman had them.

its the stretching that causes you to feel itchy. Go to a pharmacy and pick up some pure vitamin E oil to rub on your belly, as often as you need to, as well get Aveeno oatmeal bath - making sure to splash the water around your belly, that should help
