My crock pot "pot" comes out for easy cleaning. I just made soup in my crock pot and it boiled over, into the pot that heats up (and isn't water submersible). It's a crusty dried on mess. Any suggestions on how I can clean it without ruining my crock pot? (I LOVE my crock pot . . . ).

Just use a damp sponge and a steel wool or some other kind of scratcher.

You can buy a cheap throwaway "toilet wand" at Walmart,etc:, that has a spongy replacement foam number of heads. It has a little Clorox on the sponges. I would carefully scrape the bad spots with a long kitchen knife and the use the "toilet wand" with the chemical on it and them use a wet cloth towel to get the cleaner totally out of the outer part to the crock pot. Since there is electrical circuits in the bottom I would set it out and let it dry for at least two days before heating it up again....
Be sure to work on this appliance only when it is unplugged from the wall! LOL

Oh, that is a dilemma. I have one that doesn't even come apart so I clean it by soaking it with the cord side up out of the sink in hot soapy water. And then I let it dry a long time before I use it again, in case water has leaked into the hot plate area at the base. But yours may have an "unprotected" area, so it is really best to check with the manufacturer. And they are really inexpensive these days, I have 3, (different sizes). So if worst comes to worst they are not hard on the budget to replace. Good Luck.

Most likely a damp not dripping sponge with mild soap will be okay. You might be able to look up the model on the internet for cleaning instructions. But as long as you don't get too much water near the elements and make sure it is completly dry before plugging it in I bet it would be okay. Good luck. I love my crock pot too. :)

Spray a little water in it to make the crusty stuff soft and wipe it out with a wet rag or a Mr.Clean magic eraser.

Spray some 409 or Fantastic on it and let it soak for a little bit. Then scrub it off with a scouring pad.
