That is NOT the reason it is illegal.. if that were true you'd know it. The simple fact is that most americans are uneducated about it and think its worse than alcohol(to whom i say, LOL)
Besides, The reason most people grow Mary Jane is BECAUSE its illegal. Its fairly easy to brew beer, its just that most people are too lazy to do it. During the times of Prohibition the number of homegrown liquor produced skyrocketed. but once it was legalized again, everyone went back to their budweisers. The same would hold true with marijuana. Why grow your own bud when you can get killer bud down the street at the 7-11?

Marijuana is illegal because it CAN'T easily be taxed and regulated like Cigarettes or Alcohol; both of which are difficult for the average consumer to create on their own.
If the government were able to regulate and tax Marijuana as easily as it could Alcohol and Cigarettes, it would be legal. However, as long as Marijuana can be easily grown, cultivated and harvested by anyone at home, it will remain illegal.

No, it is a much safer drug than most, particularly safer than alcohol.
In the legislative record, when it was made illegal in 1932, which was before the days of "political correctness", it was during the throes of the depression and legislators said basically " that is the drug the Mexians like, and since we don't want them coming here and taking jobs from Americans, lets make their drug of choice illegal".
But one effect of making it legal would be to increase the obesity problem we already face.

Yes it should. For those to say that there is no side effect to marijuana use, then I suggest that you ask someone who was in a car accident with someone who was under the influence of marijuana. You might feel differently afterwards.

only if alcohol is illegal too. Everyone knows what a drunk is like. Stoners don't act like that...and they drive slow! Alcohol was illegal at one time.

No. I think it is less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes. Regulate it and tax it. The government is missing out on a great source of revenue.

No. Nicotine ( an addictive narcotic ) is legal. Alcohol, an additive narcotic, is legal. Marijuana, with NO addictive characteristics is illegal - why?
