did he just die? And what was the Architect all about? Is Neo like a ghost in the machine? I'm so confused!!!

You know, all that is well and good, but what happened in the movies? Neo and the Architect seemed to have this long conversation that was supposed to be deep and profound, but it left me totally confused. I know that the Matrices are movies--that's not the point. I want to know how the damn thing ended. Did Neo destroy the machines?

Hey B_Kitten, I'm psyched that you even took the time to understand The Matrix. I thought the movie was brilliant. From beginning to end. I'd also like to give a quick shout out to Camelfilters for his answer, (well done and I gave you a thumbs up!) but, I don't think he answered your question as well as you might have wanted.
Keeping in mind that most things in the Matrix is computer based. If you think of the characters as programs set do accomplish certain tasks then the movie flows a bit better. The best example is The Key Maker, I really loved this character because of he embodied his task. He made simply made keys, kind of like a path that you need to down load for an upgrade or something. When he was done he died. I was very sad.
Anyway, The Architect, in my opinion was the brain, the CPU if you will. The thing about the Architect is that he also seemed very human, presenting Neo with a major choice, not really a feature computers possess beyond "yes or no" commands. Neo realized that if he continues on he will die. If he stops trying to find the "truth" then he will live, but his existence will be the same. I mean, what I got from his convo. with the Architect is that Neo would be plugged back into the matrix and become a copper top all over again. The wool pulled back over his eyes and he would only have the feeling of something different. Remember the Architect told Neo, the one that we see, it wasn't the first time they met.
I really hope you are following me :-) I've always felt this way about the movie but, I've never had the out let to share my thoughts about it. So, I thank you as well.
To continue on Neo's death. Yes, I do think Neo is dead. I think the version of the Neo that we got to see for 3 movies is gone. He was the Antivirus to stop the war being wagged on Zion.
I think that is about it for me.
Once again thanks.

Well you see....the matrix more than being a good movie....it really has a lot of philosophy to it....all that you see their is just merely a representation of what philosophy believes now a days.....you know when people in the movie talk about the the matrix....its something like the world we live in....you see the architecht and all that well you must try to see it from a tottaly different perspective from what the movie is implying.....you have to imagine the matrix as the world we live in that is blinding us from the truth....or so they believe it that way....anyways its unimportant....the whole blue pill red pill thing talks about people wanting to understand life better....some people choose the pill in which they preffer ignorance....because actually thats what makes them happy.....but some people choose the pill to see how deep the rabbit hole goes....people who choose to understand the world better..... how can you understand the world better in our world??? welll by reading and studying stuff about it........i believe the movie itself is just a context to put forward and immense amount of ideas in philosophy...and they pretty much did a good job......now the machines and all that....i guess its just a juicy plot to the movie.........but remember its all about perspective.....the matrix is the world we live in...and zion and all that....well thats what you achieve once you seek understanding....

how it ended.......well if you want to know the end of the movie.......it kind of ends with neo making peace with the machines....showing hes actually worthy, ........he fights agent smith in the final scene.... and they mostly kick neos ***.....but in the end the machines help him out by destroying agent smith........the thing is that agent smith (which was a program that was created by the machines initialy and had gotten out of hand....sort of like AI) was taking over everything....the matrix....and wanted to take over zion.....but in the end the machines help him out.....and well it ends with peace with the machines...and everything just gets nice again....i believe theirs more philosophical interpretation to it.....but oh well.......hope that helps out

The only point of the Matrix was to suck away hours from your life and money from your wallet going to see the garbage
