No. Other than a small percentage of people with actual medical or metabolic conditions obese people can reduce their weight. My dad had a metabolic problem and lose his weight through the only 2 methods proven to work...reduction in caloric intake and an increase in caloric release (eat less and exercise more).
About 15 months ago I went from 175lbs to 225lbs (I am 6 feet tall). Fourteen months ago
I started 2 exercise 6 days a week and ate 1 solid meal per day. I took a single multi vitamin and drank at least 8 glasses of water every day (I was working in Iraq at the time and needed the water anyway). In 7 weeks I lost 50 lbs and got in excellent physical shape. It has been 1 year and I weigh 178lbs. It can be done.
I recently read where about 68% of men and 49% of women in the US are over weight or obese. As a country...we eat too much and are just plain lazy.

Sometimes. Being a little chunky myself, I see both sides of it. On one hand, I am ALL for their complaining, because there are awful people who I have firsthand knowledge of that don't exercise, eat whatever they want, and do, indeed, stay magically skinny. It just doesn't seem fair.
But I'll give anyone some time to vent. However, if they keep wallowing in their pity without shutting up or taking action, it'll get on my nerves, no matter what the subject.

Wow.... judgemental.
There are two types of fat people in the world... those that stuff themselves til they weigh twice their ideal body weight and have nobody to blame but themselves.... and those that don't,...who starve themselves and try so hard to lose weight but just never do.
Its no different than thin people... some never eat anything and get that way from anorexia... and others eat like a horse and never gain an ounce. But they're socially acceptable,... cause they fit into the media's idea of beauty.

No, I don't. I was overweight. I changed my lifestyle and lost 35 lbs. I know there are people with glandular conditions that can't help it. However, the ones who are addicted to food need to go to support groups and get some help.

most people who do nothing about their weight and are fat do not complain, it's the ones that are honestly trying to lose weight and don't they are the ones that complain and I think they have a right to, after all they are doing their best.

No. I don't feel sorry. You don't get fat overnight. It is a process. Somewhere along the process I would think they would look at themselves and say "I think 250 pounds is too much." and do something about it!

Being fat is not a disease and neither is anorexia and bulimia. Sometimes it's a cop-out.
