Generally no, because not many 16 year olds would vote, i would have been able to make a rational informed decision at 16 years of age, but how many other 16 year olds even care, but really how many 30 year olds are able to make a rational informed decision, the answer is not as many as you would hope for. So really who knows, if their were an initiative on the ballot in my state to lower the voting age to 16 i would vote for it.

Yes, the voting age ought to be lowered to 16. Many 16 year olds are more open to the growing cultural varieties of which the United States is comprised. Conversely, many 16 year olds are more violently opposed to the same varieties. I believe the population of those more sympathetic outnumbers those more opposed. This would affect the voting decisions at the polls.

However, I am concerned that many 16 year olds would be influenced more by both negative campaign ads and the more intolerant views of the older adults in their lives.

No, and here's why. While there are some 16 year olds that are mature enough and really study the issues, many don't really care. I don't want a 16 year old going out and voting thinking it's a joke or something. Besides, if you're not old enough to be out on your own, then voting might not be the best idea.

I think it should because everyone has oppinions on these things, not just 18 and older people. 18 is an okay age but if the age were lower more people could get to decide their fate in thbeir country. Its not fair that people who are almost adults have to sit by and watch as their country is formed around them-without there input, they deserve to be able to shape where they live! Good luck finding your answer.

Should never have been lowered to 18. Didn't work, very few 18-20 vote anyway. Since you can not buy liquor in most states until 21, you should not be able to vote, but also should not be considered an adult or required to register.

No....18 is too young in my opinion. 16 year olds lack the maturity and knowledge about the country and world to be able to make a balanced decision.
