Her name is Gloria Vanderbilt. They were on the Oprah show not too long ago. They talked about the death/suicide of his brother and the impact it had on the two of them.

Gloria Vanderbilt is his mother, she recently wrote a book, I read it but can't remember the title,but it was very interesting. I love Anderson Cooper I liked him even before I knew who his mother was, but it makes him all the more interesting..
