Why is it some people take so long to mature? do you think it's gentic?

Most people I know seldemly Grow-up, they just grow old.
If you think in the potential person-kind could reach and that we act no better than wild animals. Each making sure they eat before believing there will be enough food for everyone to eat. None of us-ncluding myself grows up.
