Rigor mortis is the result of ATP no longer being synthesized by the cells. There are several possibilites that could interupt the cellular respiration pathway. For example:

1) An anaerobic pathway, which leads to fermentation will produce ATP for a short period. However, after a period without oxygen, lactic acid will start to build up.

2) Mitochondrial Cytopathies include more than 40 types of different diseases, usually as a result of genetic mutation. Early signs & symptoms are a lack of growth, lack of energy, and neurological disorders.

Ultimately, without the pathway that produces ATP, the body can't survive.

If the mitochondria stopped producing ATP then there would be less than the number of 2 ATP produced during respiration.

What would cause the mitochondria to produce less?

If you take any part of the chemical reactions away - like drop a hydrogen or you run out of carbohydrates or no fatty acids, and/or the lack of phosphate - then the reactions won't happen and therefore no ATP would be produced. Also think of the mitochondria's physical presentation. If any part of it malfunctions, then it won't work.

First thing to stop would be the transport proteins that run active transport.

Something that keeps the glucose from coming in would keep ATP from being produced. Maybe a broken sodium-potassium pump?

The Na-K pump keeps a huge gradient in the membrane that Na+ like to overcome and diffuse back into the cell. When they do this they bring a glucose molecule with them. Without the Na-K pump there is no gradient to cause the diffusion.

i'm not a plant professional, so that you may want to check out me, yet i became less than the effect that safeguard cells to not carry out photosynthesis. they are on the bottom of the leaf the position the mild capacity isn't very targeted, and their purpose is to boost or settlement to make the pore more effective or smaller, helping to modify intake of CO2 from the ambient ecosystem and to launch O2 and H2O vapor into the ambience. There are ion channels that help to modify the absorption of water into the safeguard cells, which will cause them to swell and open the pore, or to shrink the safeguard cells by technique of transferring water out of them so as that they fall down and shrink the outlet of the pore, yet i do not imagine that they have got something to do with sugar production or using ATP interior of their own cells. There are ion pumps, yet i became less than the effect that those are managed by technique of reversal of costs of the safeguard cellular membranes particularly than using ATP. back, i'm a human body structure professional and not in any respect a botanist, so that you may want to wish to envision on me, yet it really is my suitable information of safeguard cellular activity.
