It sounds like a fan turning on or speeding up. Fans are sometimes controlled automatically, so that they change speed depending on the temperature of whatever it is they're supposed to be cooling down. Fans sometimes make more noise than they're supposed to, when they get old and defective. If this is something that didn't used to happen, maybe you could just replace that fan. Or replace it with a bigger, quieter fan. Or it could just be clogged up with dust bunnies perhaps. Anyway, I don't think there's anything much else in there to make noise at all really, other than fans. Take the cover off (if you're not under some precious warranty), and try to make the noise happen while watching and listening. See if you find the culprit, then do what you must do. uh, yeah, also bad hard disk could make noise, true...

Hi
How are you? I work in IT at a senior level and I have a cpl of explanations for you.
It really depends on what sorta noise its making..here are a few insights:
1. If it's making a beeping noise like a microwave (like beep sound)...you have hardware problem..loose memory, loose harddisk...etc etc...these are called bios alerts...and are easily resolvable (except if there is a lot of beeps...8 or more, or its continous...Motherboard failure)
2. Sounds like....click click click...but continues to work...these clicks sound mechanical....it means that your harddisk is failing and that you need to backup everything if you havent already....and get a new harddisk.
3 A whooshing sound, which gets louder and louder until your PC turns itself off.....means that a) you are blocking a fan on it or b) the fan is faulty...cheap to fix.
Hope that this helps

When computers start making noises they didn't used to make it means something is wearing out usually. Like a hard drive is starting to go out, or your CM Rom.

If the noise comes from the speakers it's a Popup Blocker. If it comes from the computer itself it may be a fault. Check this by turning your speaker volume off.

It could need interior cleaning, as I had a problem once and that was what was wrong with my computer. Take it to a computer cleaning service and make sure the dealer is reputable.
