Would the following be considered 'slander'?

Question

If I call someone a name, like a 'poo poo head', is that slander?

I understand if i call someone like 'a theif' and their is no evidence to support it, it is slander.

But is an opinion on ones character slander? If the above is slander, then if i worded it as, "I think you are a poo poo head", would that no longer be slander?

No, your comment is not slander, since it doesn’t really characterize an individual in such a way that calls into question their integrity, morality, or credibility. Furthermore, no false claim is being made against the individual in question. Hence the statement you asserted, in and of itself, cannot prevent that person from succeeding in life, or cost them anything of value, hence I don’t believe it can be categorized as slander. It is juvenile though.

Poo poo head is a slur or an epithet - not slander. Slander involves defamation of character or reputation. Truth is the best defense against a charge of slander, so if in doubt, find some poo poo to put on the head of the party making the charge.
