Ah they keep perpetrating the myth that tan is healthy. Tanning is skin damage...leads to wrinkles and cancer. If you must, then fake it. Pale skin can not be tanned for long with out burning it is a sign that you are hurting yourself.

You could try the Jergens build a tan lotion. You would gradually get color so it wouldn't be a sudden, dramatic change. It is also natural looking and gives you skin a nice healthy glow. You could also try out mystic tan. They look pretty natural but don't last that long.

use st tropez, you wont go orange as it has a green colour in it to prevent the tangoed look! All you have to do is basically instead of just putting the lotion straight onto your skin, first mix it with st tropez moisturiser this gives a much lighter colour, just keep adding moisturiser is the key! - before putting any tanning lotion on please make sure that you exfoliate first otherwise you end up streaky!

I don't believe that there is any safe way of getting a tan I use a lotion that has a self-tanner in it and it works great. Its not like the old ones that turned you orange.

Just take your time and lay about seven, to ten, minutes at a time, and you shouldn't burn.
