Yes, it is. A lot of young people get critical if they see a person in their 40's and 50's joking around with a bunch of young people in their 20's. These older people have the charisma to attract people at any age because they are witty, interesting and charming and do not seem that much older. There's nothing wrong with that. Some people "think" young all their lives and usually have no lack of friends because they can understand people of all ages--it is a gift.

You may think it is overrated for a 14 year old to act like a 20 year old...everyone thinks that they're just being cool...but whenever you see a 40-year old acting like a 14-year old, it is embarrasing and ridiculous.

Ugh I hate that phrase with a firey passion. There is a BIG difference between maturity and all conceptual loss of fun.
"Acting your age" is how we have come to understand the behaviors of certain age groups and by means of conditioning, deem what is appropriate. Maturity and "acting your age" does not mean that people can't enjoy a bit of good light hearted fun, but naturally that sort of humor is now considered childish once you reach a certain age.
Of course, the term "acting your age" is a means of rushing childhood if you think about it. A parent says it to her daughter as she herself is trying to cheat the clock with all types of anti-aging remedies as she tells her daughter to grow up?
Only the confused use that phrase against someone.

In some ways. I think everybody should be their own person, and take what they know and use it correctly. I think you should be able to act older if you are responsible, and can make mainly good decisions. People learn from mistakes. After all, age is just a number!

Sure is. I think a person should act how they feel inside, not the age they really are.

Yes, if you mean to put on this fake persona that says "I'm a mature adult, look at me I'm so mature!". Being responsible and taking care of business, on the other hand is something no one should compromise, especially adults and even more so to people with kids, teenage or adult!

i do not really know. sometimes you get stuff out of it, sometimes you get pride. me, myself, have rarely been told to act my age. i have been told to stop acting silly and get serious, but i do not act anything other than my age. it seems silly to think that you are overage. strange, isn't it? IF YOU ARE OVERAGE LIMIT DO NOT DO THIS.
