He sounds perfect to me but it's more important to see if your baby is following it's own groth curve (% centile) rather than compare him to other children.
My 1 year old nephew was born at over nine pounds, and has been on the same growth curve (centile) since. He has a big melon (head -- so cute) and is a healthy cherubic baby who was breastfed until he weaned himslef at aroung 9 months. He has a healthy appetite, but is very active now (crawling, standing, cruising, wiggling, and all the rest.) A lot of his baby 'fat' is now turning into new muscle and he is 'lean-ing' out. He now weighs 25 pds at one year and is 30 inches. By the way, he is in 18 months clothes too!
Enjoy him!

Sounds normal to me. People did the same thing to me with all 3 of my boys when they were little. Would say OH MY , he is sooo BIG. My children were always off the charts at the doctors visits, but now at age 9 and 7 my two oldest are tall and thin. All my babies were breastfed too. Its just the genes in my family. We have big babies. Cute and chubby.I even had a woman come up to me and ask me if my baby had medical problems, like thyroid..lol. Some people are just insensitive or clueless.

My son was around that size at 4 months. Everyone made such a big deal about how big he was. Don't worry about it. I would just say, "Yeah, he's pretty big," and leave it at that. My son (age 3) is still bigger than all the other kids his age. I'm sure the others will catch up with him sooner or later. If not, I guess he will just be big all his life.

My oldest son was so big in his first year that he didn't even fit on the chart. At six monthes he wore size one, At age one he worse size two. He wasn't fat, just healthy. In junior high he grew before the other boys did, It was always an advantage for him.
Now he is 31 years old and I call him my gentle giant. He is six foot three inches tall.

sounds like a big boy. My son at that age weighed about 20lbs and I'm not joking. Everyone told me the same thing. He is now 18 months old and weighs 29lbs. He started slowing down after he started walking. Don't let it bother you that people tell you this, he is just healthy which to me means that your taking care of him like you should.

Your baby is not big. My Son is 4 months 2 weeks and he weighs 19 pounds. BOys are usually bigger than girls... also your ethinticity comes in to play as well... my family comes from Jamaican/Spanish background and we have produced big babies. My uncle was 12 pound when born.. nothing wrong with a big baby... just means they are healthy and strong. you should be proud!

Not to worry, mine was the same. They all grow at a different pace.As long as they're healthy, thats the important thing. My baby was the tallest in the classes she was in, I also had people ask me if I had waited to put her in school, in fact she was among the youngest in her catagory. You sound like a good concience mother, don't worry until they give you something to worry about.Ha,wait till they grow older & give you gray hair.Save your nerves sweetie, you've yet to see teenage years yet.

If your doctor says he's healthy, he should be just fine. My son was in the 90th percentiles for height and weight until he hit about nine months. Now he's fifteen months old and in the 50th percentile for both height and weight-- just about average.
He's probably just having his growth spurt early, like my little boy did. If he's eating normally and he's not overweight for his height, don't worry :)

Babies are suppose to double their birth weight at 4 months. So if your son was over 9 lbs. at birth then he is right on track.
BTW: I love big babies. My boys were big as well and it made it easier on them when they got their shots.
