The Shining is a superbly scary movie! Turn off the lights for this one!

1995's IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS

This one will completely creep you out. Still is #1 on my list. Not just strictly a slasher. I'm not into that. Gross out horror is not scary, it's gross and disturbing.

If you haven't seen it, check out both!!!

I'd say Seven is probably the scariest movie I've ever seen. I didn't think it was that good, though; it looked too much like it went out of its way just to make it scarier. If you're looking for a decent thriller, I recommend The Game, it's by the same director as Seven, still pretty scary, and in my opinion much better.

I'm like you, I don't scare easily although I love scary movies a whole bunch. The only movie that has ever given me nightmares was the original 'Exorcist' and so I have not watched it or any sequels and never will. I stay away from devil movies and I am just fine. I think the Hellraiser movies have probably scared me the most but I like the Alien movie the best. I love monsters......

When I was 5 or 6, my dad took us all to see The Twilight Zone (the movie). That freaked me out.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...the one with the radio station, I think it had Holly Hunter?, not this crap they've been putting out lately.
Oh, Children of the Corn is a creep-out, as is Stigmata!
I loved the Scream Trilogy, even though it wasn't scary.

I'm of the firm belief that modern horror movies aren't scary. They are creepy and bloody, sure, but not truly scary. True fear comes from within your own mind, not from a movie. No one scares you better than you.

That being said, the one movie that has ever actually scared me was "The Blair Witch Project." Some people hated this movie with a passion, but I really liked it, simply because it DID scare me. You really never got to see what the horror was, so you had to fill in the blanks for yourself. The horror was the Unknown itself.

The Exorcist.

I had nightmares for a couple of nights when I saw it when I was about 13.

It still creeps me out.
