Tell your cousin to get a grip. I am white and I was born in Detroit. Hellllloooo---everyone knows that Detroit is predominately black. I could care less. I am proud of where I was born---black or white. I havent noticed any of my white friends thinking I act "black" or act different just because of where I was born.

If your cousin cant bear the thought of being from whats supposedly a white community tell her to just lie........tell everyone she was born in Detroit. I wont mind.

Talk to her and let her know that life is not about what other people think of you. It is about what u think about yourself and if she has a spiritual background she should focus on that. No matter what people think of where she was born, her friends or how she talks it does not change who she is and she has to love herself before anyone else will.

Yes. Tell her not to be ashamed of something that she has no control over. She may or may not find an upside to her birthplace but get over it!
