lady_crotalus is totally correct.

I find it hard to believe that you are very attached to it but you keep it in a tiny torture chamber. Most people who care about their pets will give them everything they need plus and you can't even give it the basics.

PEOPLE, goldfish have lifespans of 20 PLUS YEARS!!!! At 4 yrs its STILL a BABY!!!!
GOLDFISH CANNOT LIVE IN BOWLS! Baby-juvenile fancy goldfish need 10 gallons PER fish. (orandas, ryukins, black moors, fantails, etc) Baby-juvenile long bodied goldfish need 20 gallons PER fish. (comets, commons, shubunkins) Adults need atleast 50 gallons PER fish. Ive even seen 14 inch black moors.
NO fish grows to the size of their container. The outside stops growing but the insides continue ultimately killing it.

The fish is gonna die, either from the fall or the fact that you are keeping it in a deathtrap.

Sounds like he may be dying. Keep observing him & try not to interrupt him. Many fish jump out of bowls. Be sure to have a cover for next time.

properly in case you have any fish sense, he's ineffective he probable had a diese mesofligomia (For Fish) its somewhat like Rabbies for Foxes, squirrels, canines, cats ect. It makes the suggestions flow as though it somewhat is loopy.

If they swim upside down I believe they damaged their swim bladder. They can't make it long without it working properly.

I was told in the past the fish jumping out (because I have had it happen) was a water temp or chemical in the water is wrong.

If you want him to have a peaceful death, I have heard putting some ice cubes in the water will suddenly lower the temperature and cause them to go into shock and die.

I never tried it myself, but I understand being attached to a fish! I have been attached to many a beta fish.

The fish is saying its pray before it goes to fish heaven, probaly wants to come back as a whale. Try putting a couple of asprins in the tank, or drop it in the toilet, the shock may make his or her tiny little brain spin over.

Wow- four years. That's great for a goldfish. I would give it overnight to recover- then you might want to think about putting it out of its pain.
