100% absolutely yes - of course it would be better. The only way it would not be better would be if you stuck a cardboard box in the corner and watched that instead. No actually, at least a cardboard box might make you use your imagination.

It's very individual i think. In theory it may well be better as if you're not glued to the tv so much you are more likely to do other things that could get you active, sociable and healthier. In reality all kinds of people live in all kinds of differing situations - some for example may be bed ridden, agoraphobic or have ocd; there are many situations where the loss of the tv would leave a hole the person simply couldn't fill by doing a wide variety of other things.... Who knows...

It would be so much better and I'm very close to being at that point of giving it up altogether. There are so few shows worth watching anymore. I'm so sick of all of the violence, can't watch 3/4 of most shows with my kids because of it or all of the sexual innuendos. Wish they'd leave the sex out of Ugly Betty, it would be a fantastic show for girls with low self-esteem. Good sitcoms seem to be a thing of the past. Everybody Loves Raymond was the last of them. But I'm getting so much accomplished by not sitting in front of the tube very much anymore. TIVO is a wonderful thing.

I grew up watching TV everyday. I didn't have a TV for almost 2 years when I was around 20 and I was fine. It was only when I got a TV again that I realized I had missed out on a lot of world news. Having to catch up on current events was a little weird.

Better, I only watch Emmerdale, Afterlife and the last 5 minuets of X Factor to see who gets chucked out, sad I know, but you could dump my telly in the nearest tip for me, me and my hubby enjoy each others company so we don't watch much telly anyhow.

Life would be better without TV. People can put more of their energies into exercise, getting fresh air outdoors, and spiritual reading & meditation.

For twenty years, I chose not to have one. Frankly, I didn't miss it. I finally purchased one to satisfy friends and relatives who come to stay for a visit. The programming was junk when I was growing up and twenty years later, it is still garbage.
