There's been a lot of research into stress reduction. That's good given that stress has been linked to heart attacks, cancer, and stroke... three of the biggest killers.

That being said, the research into stress reduction has identified several ways to beat stress. The top methods seem to be:

Regular physical exercise
Faith and prayer
Good relationships
Adequate rest
Laughter

Tips for overcoming stressful situations:
Remove yourself from the situation
Don't take things (including yourself!) too seriously
Recognize that the moment will pass
Talk things out rationalll, calmy, and respectfully. If things get heated, agree to walk away and discuss it later (and set a time so it's not just a cop out).

Regards,
Rob

actually to beat stress u should:
Expose yourself to your favoured form of comedy and make yourself belly laugh for as long as possible.
Do a physical workout that makes you sweat hard for at least an hour, preferably two. The ensuing endorphin release will make you feel much less stressed.
Don't eat or drink to relieve stress, but a little herbal assistance can be relaxing ... try some herbal essences in the bath.
Listen to music that makes you wonder at the beauty of it; the Ramones or Motorhead do it for me.
Get some close contact stress relief ... use some oils.
Help someone who is having a hard time with something. Clichéed though it may be, doing good stuff for other people relieves stress.
Mentally relive your happiest time, indulging in the actual feeling of the happiness experienced, not the reality of it being gone.
Get a full body massage: darkness, mood sounds, aromatherapy etc, with joint clicking (Thai massage is good) lasting at least a full hour.
Indulge in the unconditional love of an animal companion

Great way to beat stress is to polish the knob. Survey of adults said sexual release was the most effective way of releiving stress. Of course avoiding stress is best, but sometimes that's not an option. Eat a good diet, avoid too much fat and sugar. Take some vitamin C & E and drink plenty of fuids. Vitamin B will help with energy when you're run down from too much stress. Exercise is good too.

Depends on the situation. If it's just work/school stress, get your thoughts organized on paper, and reserve a day for yourself. Do things you enjoy doing such as watching a movie, going out with friends, or sports, etc. Make sure to get a suitable amount of sleep and don't skimp on the food. Not having a rumbling stomach really helps.
