I Have not turned my back on vegetarianism. I have never tried meat, or had the desire to do so. Many people have started eating meat, for the convenience. Living in the USA, you might not get the Indian home-cooked meal everyday. Its difficult to live without at least trying meat. My mother and father and brother all were born in India. My brother and i have both been raised here. All 4 of us, have never had meat nor will. Its just a matter of life style, and convience to a persons will.

Well as against the general mis-conception that all Indians (I am refering to Indians from India, in particular....:-)) are vegetarians, the reality is that even India has a majority of non-vegetarians.
The difference though is, even the non-vegetarians from India are not full-time non-veg consumers. Their staple diet includes veggies and also meat/fish (depending upon where one comes from).
There are others who are strict vegetarians (lacto ovario vegetarians and otherwise). Still others are strict to the extent that they would not consume anything that grows below the ground (potatoes, onions, garlic etc).
Further, if you are refering to Christians or Muslims from India then their dietary preferences do include meat (of course in line with their religious beliefs and regulations).
So, it is not correct to say that many Indians in US have turned their back to vegetarianism.
As for those, who have adjusted to the american platter, I would say, "when in Rome, be like the Romans....oops, when in US be like the Americans".

Turning to Vegetarianism has
many advantages for Indians:
1. In the pretext of Cow/buffallo
meat, they feel that it was against
their religion & High time to beg
pardon from the god.
2. They want to remain healthy
and live longer than Americans.
3. They have discovered various
bacterias present in meat.
4. They do not want stale/ stored
meat to eat( they eat fresh in India)
5. MOST IMPORTANT FACT IS THAT THEY WANT TO SAVE MORE MONEY AND BECOME MORE MISER TO SPEND THEM

We have an adage that goes this way:"When you are in Rome, do what the Romans do." Other Indians just have to adapt to the western lifestyle or they will perish. It is a means of survival for them. In similar circumstances , would you have not done the same? Anyway. vegetarian or not, it is our own beliefs that motivates us to do things. To me, Doing good to other people (whether I eat meat or not) , is more important.

whats up, accommodating different diets interior an same meal would seem puzzling in spite of the indisputable fact that it certainly is accessible. have you ever considered asking if the beef might want to be further on the ultimate minute? That way he can cook dinner the entire meal, component off some for you, then upload meat to something of it. If he makes such issues as stir-fry, curries or pasta nutrients, it really is quite undemanding to cook dinner them up then throw some meat into his component on the best. you may also attempt to barter some meatless nutrients per week for the relations. maximum persons don't experience the want to have meat daily so with a bit of luck he will experience good about having some veggie possibilities. such issues as quorn and different meat replacements might want to be in an attempt to achieve a compromise as they don't style completely unlike meat. If budgeting is an challenge, meals which incorporates dried beans and lentils, brown rice, pasta and bread are all lower priced thoughts. Going for wholegrain is likewise no more effective expensive and is a lot in good structure. Canned and frozen veg might want to be a more cost-efficient and swifter option to bathe. good luck with it. i'm hoping it quite works out for you. x EDIT- @Vanu, your answer sounds a touch conventional on condition that I in basic terms wrote it! i assume I must be flattered that you wanting to scouse borrow my answer and pass it off as your own. you'll have a minimum of made an attempt to hide your plagiarism by technique of changing the wording a touch! x

I am guessing you are literally asking why Brahmins who do not take meat when living in India, relish eating meat when they relocate to the US.
The reasons are numerous
(a) Adapt with american culture. For e.g., I do not eat meat on Tue/Fri. I continued to follow it even while living in the US. Anytime when we had a team outing, team members would eat meat burgers and steaks while I would be content with some veggie pizza. Of course, when you avoid taking meat, you should also be ready to come up with answers for your american team mates as to why you are not taking meat.. I never felt inconvenienced answering that I am simply adhering to my religious practices, but not many Indians feel that way. Most want to convey to the Americans that they are adapting to their way of life. Hence, they end up eating meat.
(b) Meat eating in the US is less expensive than Veggies
(c) Lack of availability of Veggies. I know I went hungry on a Tuesday in Yellow Stone National Park, WY because there simply wasn't any veggie stall available.

I don't know if you're talking about American Indians or Asian Indians. I don't think American Indians were ever vegetarians. They were all hunter-gatherers for the most part. Asian Indians aren't vegetarians either. They just don't eat beef. Everything else is okay though.

reason is simple. they are allured by the western culture . and they think whatever they do is right. but they usually forget that , there western ppl. are not aware of the vegetarianism . so rather than telling them they adopt their habbits . also t hey think that if they will not do like this they will not be adjustes well to this american society.

too difficult to restrict yourself to vegetarianism becoz you'll have to cook it yourself everyday even if you are lazy or ill. eating out in veg restaurants everyday is too expensive, so better to cultivate a taste for fish/meat and eat what is available everywhere and for cheap.
