My best friend is moving here (michigan) from Florida next week. She's getting out of a bad relationship with her ex-girlfriend and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to help her feel more at home, or how to make her more comfortable. She is more than welcome here always and forever, and I consider her my sister really... I just want to help her start a new life... =)

Show her around... introduce her to some people... take her mind off of the ex.... what you see in movies. When you move to a new place, you want her to feel like she would if she was in Florida. I know if I moved in with my cousins also in Michigan... I wouldnt want to feel like an alien. I would want to know that I have friends.

It is so wonderful and such an extra special blessing to have such a compassionate and sincere friend. Stay that way. But now please remember how easy and quick it is to get out of GOD's will and be in OUR will. She is your friend not your child. You've done the beautiful thing ... welcomed her ... don't start enabling her now ... she's a big girl and when she handles and get over her problem or trauma is the only time it is truly dealt with. Just be there as I see you are but don;t do it for her because if you do it just delays the porocess. She still has to do it herself.

Welcome her back with a warm hug and big smile for starters, offer her a warm comfortable bed to stay in while you help her look for a place of her, and maybe show her around so she can look for a job so she can get her life back on track. She will be glad to have you there to help her get adjusted, I'm sure she doesn't expect anything else except your friendship.

It's great that you accept her even though she's a lesbian. Anyway you should just be there whenever she needs a shoulder to cry on, or a friend to depend on. That's all you need to do, nothing special.

you should just help her remember good times so she can forget about it or just let her come over alot and talk to her about it.
