You are an adult and don't have to give a reason for missing class; however, because you are an adult don't expect the professor to review what you missed. It is not like grade school where you worked on a single concept for a week or more. If you miss a class in college, when you go back to class the professor will be on to a different concept.

Look sometimes we all really dont feel like going to college but we go because the principal will throw a strop if we fail to turn up so I think that you should really just bite the bullet and turn up. Especially Since you are the principal you might be missed!

my dad used a cracking excuse once for bunking off school, he told them that his dad had been arrested for killing a kid! He figured that the more extreme the excuse the more likely they are to believe you!! However, he was caught out when his teacher spoke to his mum about it and believe me, there nearly was a murder!

Sound glum and tell them you've had some bad news. They wont dare to ask what the bad news is for fear of upsetting you!
