Do you love your country? Why? What country - if not your own, do you love. What's so great about it? What do you think of the U.S.?

Not exactly to love your country, but to be proud of it? Are you proud of your country?

My country is the U.S. and George Bush has made me ashamed of it. After Vietnam fiasco it took me years to get back the respect I had for my flag and now Bush has wrapped himself in it and I suspect, used it as a substitute for toilet paper (figuratively). I will be very happy when Bush is politically castrated at the polls next Tuesday.

I have to agree somewhat with silverbirch. I don't hate my country. In fact I, for the most part, enjoy living here. But love is such a big word and when I think of people saying they love America I can't help but find some arrogance in that. I suppose it's from hearing stuff like “I love America it's the best country in the world”. Which I find rather funny since these people couldn't have lived in every country in the world and without experiencing that their judgment is a bit bias. Also by loving a country does that also mean loving the bad parts and the parts a person might disagree about? What exactly does loving a country entail?

I find the concept of loving a country very strange. Why? What has it ever done for me? And do say education or hospitals - they come out of my taxes.

US? Over rated, nice individuals, but arrogant as a group.

The U.S. is great, liberty, freedom of speech, opportunities. Great. But there's something about it that makes me want to go back home. People over here are just too unkind and only care about themselves.

Yes, but not the current administration in power. I love it because it was founded on the idea that we are all equal (which we're not, but it was a good thought).
