There is constant pressure to consume more but I have more or less what I need.

The thing I don't get about consumerism is that the more you go out shopping the more you fill up your home and the less space you have. People who have less have more freedom.

Not really anything to do with humanity, is it, it's a question about advertising. Switch off the TV, ignore the billboards, and be happy.

i was just thinking that tonight watching the fireworks. Private, home fireworks are sooooo much fancier than they were when I was a kid. Why? Cos we're so much richer. What did we spend our riches on? Better fireworks. Why? Do we need better firework? No! But we already had what we really needed, so we had so spend our wealth on frippery.

Ergo: we weren't that badly off in the first place.
