How do I change y= -4x^2+12x-3
into standard form y=a(x-h)^2+k??

-4x^2+12x-3=-(4x^2-12x+3) =- {(2x)^2-2*2x*3+(3)^2}-9-3 =-1(2x-3)^2-12

Maybe I'm wrong, but I figure 4(x-3x)^2+3.
Basically, look for something that's common in 4x^2 and 12x. Initially, I got a 4x to be common, but then in the standard form you are given, what's inside the brackets is squared, so you can change the common 4x to a common 4 and it still works out.

it goes back to the primary function.. the formula is
y=a(x-h)^2+k..
a=4
x=1
h=3
k=3
hope it kinda helped.. ask ur teacher
