I am 39wks, And 4 hours ago, I drank orange juice, Mixed with 3 teaspoons of castor oil, it did ABSOLUTELY nothing...No 'runs'..No 'cramps'..No bad side effects, and certianly no good ones (Good being the ones I was looking for) Lol..The reccomended dosage of castor oil is 1-4 TABLEspoons...If I take another 3-4 TEAspoons...anyone think it might help?!?!
I already know there can be bad side effects to doing this, I don't care to be preached at, So If you don't have something else to say..Please just pass this question on by! :-)
Thanks a lot in advance!!!

LOL- You ask not to be preached to, and what do people do??
Im in the same boat you are... Im a miserable 39 weeks and have gotten to the point of "get this baby out of me". I see a midwife for my OB care- and her recommendation is 2 Tablespoons Castor Oil in an 8 oz glass of orange juice. Then have sex, wait about a half hour, and start doing some walking (in my case, I was advised to go around my block twice at a steady pace). I havent done this yet, cause part of me was kind of hoping to avoid the uncomfortable bathroom episode so I dont know how well it would work. But keep in mind tonight there is a full moon, and there is an old wives tale about increase in labor during that time, so tonight may be our night!!! haha. Best of Luck to you...

I don't think it'll help, if you're ready to go, you're ready to go....castor oil won't help if you're not no matter how much you take. You should be mostly effaced and partly dilated to even try castor oil.
Did you think about the fact that you're still a week early? That the due date is an estimate and could be off by two weeks? What's your OB say about effacing and dilation? How frequent are your contractions?
Losing your baby in a uterine rupture has good odds, as well as forcing yourself into an unnecessary csection, thereby cancelling any further pregnancies with a natural birth. Once a csection, always anymore, insurance companies won't have it any other way.

Its a laxitave. It will take a little time to work. Probably when you are in labor and want to relax ...then you will have the runs. Then when it is time to "push" you will have the runs right there during delivery. Not pretty. The idea of the Castor oil is to empty your lower bowel and then the baby, if it is time, will drop further and induce labor. Not a good idea to take this. Just wait for nature to take its course...I'm not preaching...just be patient..the big event is soon.

I took the whole bottle when I had my son. It was a tiny little bottle and it worked! I pooped a lot and had him that night. I don't know if it was the castor oil, but after my water broke he was born in 28 minutes! I was also dilated. I usually tell people if you aren't dilated it prolly wont work! Good luck and God bless!

Did you ask your doctor first. There are a lot of "Old wive's tales" about what can bring on labor, but that's all they are. Nothing is guaranteed to bring on labor and castor oil can be dangerous to the baby. That's why a lot of OB/GYNs don't recommend it anymore.

a great number of skincare companies desire to apply olive oil and almond oil of their products with the aid of emolient homes they grant. lots of the anti-starting to be previous creams and coverings have those oils. they are effectual and particularly costly, so those products are for this reason costly. in case you have an pastime in some form of moisturizer that rather does the trick, those 2 oils are stable. if your pores and skin is unquestionably oily nonetheless, that's variety of greasy. I even have discovered that I in basic terms would desire to objective issues to verify how they paintings!

I used it but I was already in labor it just wasn't that bad yet. I mixed mine with milk, not that it makes a difference. Just know a baby comes when it wants to even if you drank a whole bottle, not that I recommend that at all!
