The company I am currently with "let go" most of our management staff last week due to financial cuts and are starting to move down to the customer service reps. Is it better to just let them "let me go" or for me to vouluntarily resign? It's guarenteed that I will be one of the many to be let go. I'm not sure what to do. Let them tell me or for me to step up first. I already have a few jobs lined up.

It's been confirmed that tomorrow I will be laid off. My friend works in HR and gave me a heads up that me and a few of my other friends will be let go 11/6

It is better to be laid off. You'll get a severance package, and more than likley be eligible for other benefits you won't have if you resigned.

Do not resign. Hold onto that job until you secure the next job. If you resign you cannot collect unemployment. If you resign and the other jobs fall trough you will up a certain w/o a paddle-or even a canoe. You may not get laidoff as soon as you think. Especially, if others start leaving first. Once you have the other job, give your two weeks notice and leave on good terms. Never burn bridges leaving a job-even if you hate everyone there. The job market is a very, very small world. I just recently moved into management. I've just gone to a few meetings. Believe me, the people you cross can come back to kick you in the teeth.

If your company going to give a severance package when they lay you off, then stick around; but if not, then you can resign without any problems; just put on applications: "better opportunity".

You are entitled to more benefits if you get laid off. If you resign, you may have to give a good reason on your next job interview!

If they let you go, you will most likely get a severence package, and you can collect unemployment.
If you resign, you don't get anything.
Either way, you can use both on your resume in a positive light.

Functionally it doesn't matter. Your next employer won't care, and in truth, they can't legally ask.
If your company is offering a severance package then I'd stick around for that. In addition, you might be able to draw unemployment if you are let go due to lack of work.
Cudos for having other jobs lined up... I dig chicks who are motivated!!!
