back in the day it helped to keep people cleaner, to protect their private parts and to keep them warm. today it doesn't have a whole lot of function...there is no reason to keep it and no real reason to shave it off or wax it. a new trend started in the past 10-15 years that involves shaving or waxing most of it or in some cases all of it...this is just preference and should only be done for the individual doing it, because they find it comfortable. it should not be done cause a guy thinks it should be... its normal not to do anything to it as well. most people in the world just leave it alone.

I have no idea, some scientists think that it is hair left over from evolution and some think that it accumulates pheromones, which make the opposite sex attracted to you, but nothing is proven yet.
