Mr. Glenn gave a good answer. I think some people think they can get away with it - its never 'an affair' to start with..... just a smile, a chat, a text, a phone call, a drink, a lunch, a meal.... and then suddenly a kiss (but we won't go further!) and then full sex (but it won't happen again!) and then suddenly its a full blown affair and the person is lying to their partner....... and so on.

Then of course, days, weeks or years later..... the sh*t hits the fan, the wife/husband finds out..... and obviously they are not happy about it and the marriage is in crisis.

So what was it all about? A lack of attention?Couldnt resist some different sex?

Who knows? But very damaging all round, and best avoided. If someone is bored or NOT happy in their marriage, best to try and fix it or leave the marriage before first bringing someone new into it.

And often, by changing partners, all you are doing is switching seats on the Titanic! Remember, one takes oneself wherever one goes - so often we need to change OURSELVES!

maybe he wasn't happy, and when the other woman came into his life, she was so persuading and promising, that he had an affair. he has an affair because he is not really happy with himself, so instead of changing himself, he blames his spouse for his problems, and thinks that his problems will go away if he cheats and leaves his wife. in his mind he really believes someone else is to blame, so he selfishly moves on where the new woman doesn't know him yet, it is like a new toy, something different, so he starts life all over again, cause he don't want to work on his marriage, he doesn't want to put out the effort.

Even in the perfect marriage things happen. One may think they are happy and all is right with the world until that one moment. It could be a number of things. If someone gives you more attention than your partner gives you then you may start to believe in your head that your marriage is not that good thus making it easier to have the affair. It's usually a momentary lapse in judgment.

Nothing makes them have an affair.........that is a choice. They may be in denial of probs in the marriage, they may be flattered by the attention.,they may deluded themselves that the husband/wife won't find out so why does a little 'fun on the side' hurt. Ultimately, 9 times out of 10 the husband/wife will intuitively know...........

They entertain the thought of doing something and then actually do it. Some people just aren't strong enough not to cheat. They don't know to block out those thoughts or end relationships before they get out of hand. For example if you have lunch with someone of the opposite sex all the time, you get attached and then things happen, IT"S JUST WEAKNESS! and if they really were "happy" they wouldn't do it period, because THEY'RE HAPPY!!

when a spouse is secretive. but everyone needs to have a secret to feel different. so it's secretive and lying. but that also doesn't necessarily mean that the spouse is having an affair. so it's secretive and lying and you need to prove that there's an affair going on. otherwise, anyone can be untrusting. one needs proof.

Because they are not happy simple as that, there are a lot of unhappy people trapped in loveless marriages, living together because they can't afford to do otherwise, I know I am one..
