I am only like a month pregnant with my second child. This pregnancy is totally different than the first. I can not stop getting sick. I was told to eat crackers in the morning before I get out of bed but I doesn't seem to help. I know this in normal when you are pregnant but does anyone know something that will help the sickness. It last all day its not just in the morning.

Contact your doctor as soon as you can. My stepmom was sick like you are and she got so dehydrated she had to be hospitalized. So it is very important for both your health and the baby's that you get help for this problem as soon as possible. There are a lot of good suggestions here, and there are some medications your doctor can prescribe. The main thing is, you need to take this very seriously. Your health and your baby's health are at stake.

P.S. Check and see if your prenatal vitamins contain iron. I tried to take vitamins with iron when I was younger, I wasn't even pregnant, and the first time I took them they made me so nauseated I had to pull over to the side of the road on the way to work and throw up. Yes, your body needs iron, but it can do without an extra supplement for a while if that's part of what's making you nauseous.

Good luck!

I feel so sorry for you. I went through the same thing. Mine lasted from week 6 to week 16. For me, the taste of the crackers made me sicker. When I got up in the a.m I would go to the bathroom and let myself puke. It was so forceful that I would even pee my pants so I'd just get on my hands and knees in the bathtub. Then I would get ready for work and drink a little bit of milk and eat a handful of plain cheerios. Pull over on my way to work and puke. I'd still feel crappy all day. Eventually it turned to puking at night which is way worse cuz then you puke everything you ate throughout the day.

My advice: Stay away from anything that has a strong smell and eat the plainest foods possible. For me I lived off of grilled chicken sandwiches with no dressing, lettuce, cheese, or anything. I especially couldn't stand cheese, which oddly enough I used to be able to eat a whole block of in one sitting!

It's what they call hyperemesis. If you start to lose weight or it doesn't go away, then the doctor will prescribe you medication. My Dr. more or less told me to deal with it. Nice, huh. I know right now it seems that it will never end, but just hang in there honey. :)

There is a prenatal vitamin (called Premesis) made especially for women with nausea. Your OB needs to prescribe it, but it helped me.

I also found that the nausea was worse when my blood sugar was low, so I took to carrying food around with me at all times. And eating the sorts of things that are reputed as hangover cures, like cheeseburgers, etc. Weirdly, it did seem to help a bit, although it's not the sort of diet you want to be on all the time!

I also figured that since even bland, boring, horrible food made me nauseated, why not take chances on the things I'd actually LIKE to eat? And, truthfully, curry or enchiladas or something stayed down way better than, say, mashed potatoes. I definitely had some issues with texture and mouth feel; something about the graininess of mashed potatoes would just set me off...

Yes! I had this 24/7 and it lasted for nine months with my first. It was horrible and I know exactly how you feel. My advice to you is to eat light things. If your stomach is empty it will just get worse. So try to eat whatever you can stomach even if you know you are going to throw up because when I did that sometimes it would ease off. When I was so sick feeling I used to eat sliced lemon or something like pickle because it always seemed to help slow down the reflux. Ginger is also good for this purpose. Eat fruit, toast, oatmeal or cereals, anything light that appeals to you. Don't force yourself with other foods. You should be fine as long as you drink plenty of fluids.

You poor thing! I can totally relate. I was like that with my current (also second ) pregnancy as well. Nothing that I could find helped. I wish I could give you a solution..but I tried everything that they tell you to try and I just felt cruddy all day long. Thank God I only felt that way for a few weeks (about 3). I tried eating light meals and things that I knew wouldn't make me feel worse. Best of luck. I hope you find something that works great for you! Sorry I couldnt give you a great solution

Oh, girl, I feel for you. I stayed sick with my son (though not all day) for longer than the 1st trimester. Crackers didn't help me either, I remember "worshiping the porcelain god" after woofing down some crackers. Try some herbal tea with lemon, or check out your environment. Is anyone smoking around you? What about smells of gas (such as cars emitting)? Purchase an air purifier, this might help.

eat small meals during the day. eat something with protein in it right before you go to bed. my Dr recommended celery and peanut butter or something like that. she also recommened to keep something by the bed and eat before you get up, i never did it though. the very thought of crackers first thing just made me sick. morning sickness usually gets better in the second trimester. good luck!

Crackers never helped me either. I never found anything that helped, not even what my doctor suggested of cutting the prenatal vitamins in half and taking them at different times helped. I can tell you that oranges and orange juice is the worst thing to throw up so if you think your gonna be sick stay away!

If you are taking a vitamin/mineral supplement, get rid of it. If it has iron in it, it will make you sicker than a dog. If you can't get rid of it, cut it in half, or just take the vitamin and not the mineral. Get your calcium and magnesium another way, because you need those, definitely, and folic acid. If you eat a healthy diet, you don't need supplements. Your body is super hungry. The tea sounds like heaven, do whatever you need to do to feel better. Please don't use drugs, only as a last resort! My great grandmother was a mid-wife and she used alot of chamomile tea

You should let your doctor know about the sickness, they should be able to prescribe something that will help. My wife is taking dramamine and was also given some ginger lollipops. If you can find ginger snaps or ginger ale that are made with real ginger, they might help too. You might also ask about motion sickness pills, there are some that are made with ginger that might help, but make sure with your doctor that they won't hurt your baby!
