The answer to this changes over the course of the century. E. A. Wrigley, an eminant demographic historian, lists the population of London during the 18th century as follows. c.1700 = 575,000, c.1750 = 675,00, and 1801 = 960,000

I dont know but the london bridge (the one that the song stems from) "the london bridge is falling down" never fell and was relocated to Lake Havasu City.
