Kenmore model # 110 97573230 will not always start when the start button is pushed. The dryer seems like it wants to start and then nothing. It makes a humming/buzzing noise then nothing. At other times it starts and will run all day. I am thinking that it is either the motor or the contacts to the motor are dirty. Any ideas.

It sounds to me like the motor is going bad. It most likely has a bad spot in the motor and if the motor stops on that spot is when you have the trouble

It sounds like you have a lint buildup in the motor centrifugal switch. Cut the power to the unit(pull the plug) and remove the two screws from the filter area and pop the top up. You should see a modular plug on the right to disconnect the door switch wires. You should also see two 5/16" hex head screws(one on each side) that hold the front panel onto the cabinet. Remove the two screws and unhook the panel at the bottom by pulling up one side at a time. Remove the belt from the motor pulley by pushing the idler pulley to the right and taking note as to how the belt is routed through the idler pulley. Lift the drum (using the belt as a handle) up slightly and foreword and remove it from the machine and set aside. You now have full access to the inside of the dryer and can take a vacuum and clean all of the lint from the motor and everywhere else. Be careful around the ignitor(located on the left of the burner assembly) as it is fragile and can be broken easily. Once the motor and everything else is cleaned you can reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Most definetly the motor is going bad .Its time to replace the motor, but keep in mind that at todays prices it would be cheaper to buy a new dryer

could be the motor, could be the door switch is loose, could be a loose wire, could be a bad timer or start switch. Low voltage will also cause problems but is rare.
